1. Inspect the Surface

2. Choose the Correct Treatment
Concrete, pavers, brick and stone are not treated identically. Jointed surfaces need an approach that leaves the jointing intact, and older brick or soft concrete needs a gentler method than a modern poured slab.
3. Treat the Moss
A biodegradable, plant safe solution applied across the affected area and given proper dwell time to work into the root structure. This is the step that decides how long the result holds, and it is the one most commonly skipped.
4. Remove the Growth
Once the growth is dead it releases with far less force. Flat concrete is cleaned with a surface cleaner for an even finish. Jointed paving, brick and older surfaces are worked more gently so nothing is stripped out from between the units.
5. Rinse and Clean the Area
Dead growth and debris are cleared rather than left in piles at the edge. Planting is rinsed down, runoff is directed sensibly, and the area is left dry and usable.
6. Final Inspection
A walk round with you, or before and after photos sent to your phone if you were out.

In practice the combination is what we recommend on most properties here. Blasting live moss off a shaded driveway gets you a clean slab and the same problem again next winter. Nothing removes moss permanently in this climate, and anybody promising that is overselling. What you can do is slow it down considerably:
- Clear leaf and needle litter off hard surfaces before winter. That organic layer is what moss establishes in.
- Keep drainage running. A blocked gutter or a downspout discharging onto a path keeps that surface permanently wet.
- Open up sunlight where it is practical. Trimming back a shrub that shades a walkway makes a real difference. Removing a mature tree usually is not practical and is not what we would suggest.
