Cleared By Hand, Flushed And Tested
Gutter Cleaning & Downspout Flushing
We lift it out and take it with us. Nobody stands on your roof with a blower firing wet debris across the driveway and calls that a service.
- Bagged, Not Blown
- Every Downspout Flushed
- Fully Insured
The Short Version
The advice to clean gutters twice a year was not written for a county under mature Douglas fir. Needles pass through most guard systems, pack into downspouts, and turn a working system into a blocked one without anything visible changing at ground level.
Two Ways To Empty A Gutter
One is fast. Get on the roof with a blower and drive everything over the edge, then rake up whatever landed somewhere obvious. Twenty minutes a house, and a season of rotted leaf mould through your beds, down the siding and across the car.
The other is slower. Work along the run by hand, lift the material into a bag, and take the bag away. That is the one we do, every time, on every property.
Then there is flushing, which is the half nobody watches. We put water through every downspout and stand there seeing where it comes out. A clear gutter feeding a blocked spout has solved nothing, and on older properties the line often runs underground where a blockage is invisible.
What this is really protecting is the fascia board. Once water is running over the front lip instead of through the system, that board takes it every time it rains, all winter, and the fix becomes a carpenter rather than a cleaner.
What Is Included
What A Gutter Clean Covers
| Hand debris removal | Leaves, needles and grit lifted out and bagged. Nothing is blown across your landscaping or driveway. |
|---|---|
| Downspout flushing | Every outlet run through and watched until water passes freely, including underground lines where they are accessible. |
| Drainage testing | We follow where the water actually goes rather than assuming it leaves. |
| Hanger and seam check | Separation, sag and loose spikes reported before they turn into fascia repair. |
| Guards lifted | Where a guard system is fitted we lift it and clear underneath rather than guessing what is there. |
| Full haul away | Bagged debris leaves with the truck. Nothing is left at the kerb. |

Worth Knowing
How Often, Honestly
Twice a year is a floor rather than a target here. What decides yours:
- Conifer directly over the roof line, which sheds year round rather than seasonally
- How long the runs are and how few downspouts serve them
- Whether debris dries out between rains or stays wet and mats together
- Whether a guard system is fitted, which changes what accumulates rather than whether it does
Properties on wooded lots frequently need three visits. We will tell you what yours looks like after the first one rather than selling you a schedule up front.
Clean the roof first and the gutters second, in one visit. See roof cleaning. Staining left on the siding below the gutter line comes off with house washing.

Common Questions
Gutter Cleaning Questions
Do you blow the gutters out?
No. Everything comes out by hand and into a bag that leaves with us. Blowing is faster and it simply relocates the mess onto your property.
I have gutter guards. Do I still need this?
Usually yes. Guards handle broadleaf reasonably well, but fir needles pass straight through the mesh and then cannot get back out. We lift guards rather than work around them.
My gutters look clean but water still overflows. Why?
Very likely the downspout or an underground line. On older properties those block invisibly, so the run can look perfect while nothing is getting away.
Will you tell me if something needs repair?
Yes. Hangers, seams, separation and soft fascia all go in the summary with the photos, and there is no charge for the look.
Can you come out urgently?
If water is actively coming over and running down the house, ring rather than using the form. Those get moved up the schedule.
Do I need to be home?
No. Access around the property is enough. Photos and a report come to you when we finish.
